About the RCYSL
The Rapid City Youth Soccer League was formed in 1980 to fill a need for kids wanting to play organized soccer in our community. Since its inception, the league has grown to approximately 180 teams with more than 1,700 players. In the year 2000, we started a Challenge league for more competitive play, an indoor recreation league, an Academy program to advance skills and a First Kicks program for three year olds. We are proud of all that we have accomplished in our 32 years, and look forward to continuing the promotion of youth soccer in the Rapid City area.
Rapid City Youth Soccer League, Inc. is organized for the following:
The development, promotion and administration of the game of soccer among players under nineteen (19) years of age within the general area of Rapid City, South Dakota.
The objective shall be to provide fair and sportsmanlike opportunities for recreational competition, and, in doing so, to act in all matters to protect the interest of the players.
Meet some of the RCYSL Board
Cassandra Messmer – RCYSL Board President
Cassandra is the proud mom of three boys, Preston (15), Zachary (10), and Parker (6). All three of the boys play for the RCYSL. Her husband, Dana, coaches two of their teams, so the Messmer family can often be found on a soccer field at any given time. She has been a volunteer on the RCYSL board for the past seven years. When not at soccer games or at soccer meetings, Cassandra is running her boys around town or helping out at their schools.
Darlene Smith – Registrar
Darlene volunteers with the RCYSL and is a current member of the Soccer Rapid City board. Many have visited with Darlene on her quest to find coaches for their children's teams. She has watched many soccer matches over the years from U6 through high school and enjoys traveling to tournaments to watch her grandson play.
